STORYBOARD

Image
I have created my storyboard in order to display a visual representation of my music video. Even though, logistically it wasn't possible to use the settings that I'll use in the final product; having the chance to visualise my plan has encouraged me to modify my shot list; adding more to ensure that I have enough footage to work with. I think some of the shots I initially had also need amendments - such as more close ups to encourage the audience to identify with the artists more.

SHOT LIST

The shot list I've created will help me to plan my shooting schedule and my filming guidelines. I have collated a wide range of shots to account for the multitude of shots that I'll need in order to make my music video fluid.

TIMELINE

Image
I have set out my timeline in a logical order, so that the key events in my video will correspond to the lyrics: amplifying the message behind the song. This has really helped me to plan my storyboard & timeline as I can start to envision how my video will look and the steps I need to take to make this happen.

CASTING

I decided to put my final casting ideas into a powerpoint, focusing mainly on the two artists - Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige. The planning will help me to make sure that I have casted the right person, ensuring that the performers are confident and aware of the role they play.

ARTIST IDENTITY

Image
I have created a document which depicts the exact costume & makeup of my characters, this is the first scene which is where the breakup takes place. This will help me to organise my cast and ensure that their costume fits the narrative. I have considered costume, makeup and the character's political stance, which will help me to analyse my representation of ethnicity.

PERMISSION EMAIL - RECORD LABEL

I emailed the Sony management team to ensure that I had permission to use 'I used to love him' as the song for my music video.

GENRE PLANNING - MINDMAP

Image
I decided to plan all of my content in the format of a mind map. This way, I could easily analyse & interpret all of my ideas, ensure that they will work logistically and will also be fluid in the order. I highlighted key areas of my project including more nuanced areas like representation of ethnicity & gender, which is indicative of how I plan on challenging the negative stereotypes around Afro - Caribbean women, especially. The mind map helped me to kick start my ideas and lead me to create an effective plan, outlining the aims of my final product.
